100% Plant-Based Cafe 🌱

May 24, 2019

Nourish is a 100% plant-based and Non-GMO cafe with a large selection of items, the restaurant offers Savory and Sweet Toast as well as salads, sandwiches, rice bowls, waffles, baked goods, soup of the day and juices. I tried the toast sampler, frittata, and almond pudding. The savory and sweet toast was amazing, I picked the lox, butter & jam, pumpkin, avocado toast. ( the sampler has 3 smaller toast). Both the lox and pumpkin were made with creamy nut cheese from Kite Hill. The butter & jam is made with a drizzle of Miyoko's Vegan Butter and the avocado was simple but my favorite. Well worth the $3.50 the frittata is moist and flavorful with hints of rosemary. I can't wait to go back and try the mock tuna salad and soup of the day. Nourish has two locations both with different menu's, Hyde St. and California St. and 6th Ave and California St.

Luv It Frozen Custard

December 9, 2017
LUVIT4w.jpg.jpg

Nestled in the old part of downtown still scattered with retro homes from the 1970's stands an unique place to get ice cream in Las Vegas. Luv-It Custard has been around since 1973. Pull up to the old blue house with bars on the windows, you will think its closed but the walk up window is on the side of the house. We ordered the special root beer custard in waffle and sugar cones. This is a great way to get off the strip and enjoy something from Vegas bygone days, also check out the nearby arts district.

Arizmendi Bakery A Worker Owned CO-OP

September 10, 2017

The advent of food Co-Op's helped in putting the democracy of food back into the hands of the people. Arezmindi Bakery is named after a priest (José Maria Arizmendiarrieta) who helped start cooperatives in the Basque Country of Spain.

Arezmendi's is a worker-owned cooperative that opened in 2000 in San Francisco's Sunset District.

On most days the lines for the bakery are out the door at least in the Sunset District. Voted the best bakery in many publications, I have to agree. Get there early, nothing beats warm baked goods fresh outta the oven. If you get there after 11am, try the pizza for $3.00. (Ride your bike and get a discount)! The Arizemendi's website gives you a list of hours, bread schedule and pizza menu.

Tasty Sweet Potato Tacos in Bolder, Utah

July 26, 2017

Magnolia's Street Food is a teal bus/food truck in front of the Anasazi State Park Museum in a shaded area with picnic tables and makes a great place for lunch. I ordered the Hibiscus Iced Tea and the Sweet Potato Tacos. The tacos were perfectly cooked and delicious and the tea was a great thirst quencher for the hot weather. You can check out the menu here.

Pie at the Gifford Homestead

June 26, 2017

When asked what we should see Capitol Reef National Park and the women at the Anazazi State Park suggested stopping at the Gifford Homestead. Offering an assortment of pies we went for the mixed berry pie as well as some ice cream. Have to say the pie was delicious and hit the spot, its was a great place to cool off as we sat in the shade under an awning. Before leaving be sure to fill up your water bottles outside the homestead with some filtered water as it gets hot here in the summer. The homestead has an interesting history and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
